This blog is simply a creative outlet for me. I don’t expect many people to visit or lock in on what I have to say. Primarily, I hope that some will find encouragement or empathy here rather than encounter another space for another inflated opinion.
Reading one of my posts will make it quite obvious that I am a Christian, more accurately a Christ follower. My faith and my everyday life are intertwined. I am also a pastor in the United Methodist Church, a calling in which I find great joy and challenge. The same is true of my role as a parent. I am grateful for the love, grace and forgiveness that my wife daily demonstrates for me. I am a better person because of her.
The idea behind the title Crammed with Heaven (the latest iteration of my personal blog) comes from an Elizabeth Barrett Browning poem, “Aurora Leigh.” Browning writes, “Earth’s crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God, But only he who sees takes off his shoes; The rest sit ’round and pluck blackberries.” I ran across that reading The Unseen Real by Stephen Seamands. I want to see what God is doing here in a world that’s Crammed with Heaven and be a part of his plan… rather than sit ’round plucking blackberries.
I’m grateful that you took the time to learn more. Enjoy.
